Walnut24 returns Oct 26
Walnut24, the largest student fundraiser at WHHS will return on Oct 26 and 27 this year.
Why is this fundraiser important? The Walnut24 supports the fund that pays the advisors for all the clubs, organizations and sports programs that Walnut Hills has.
No advisors: No Clubs.
What the students do inside the classroom is important. What they do outside of class also prepares them for the world. A well-rounded education and students who are prepared to lead.
This is what makes Walnut Hills one of the top high schools in the country.
Walnut 24 will be similar to last years event, kicking off with 24 games -- competitions by students -- for a fun and exciting afternoon. Game start at noon and go thru 6:00 pm. One change is the format of the games. Instead of a new game starting every 30 minutes, the 2013 edition will have 12 games starting at 12 noon. Students will make the rounds to play these games in any order they wish. At 3:00 the first 12 games will end and a second round of 12 different games begin with the same play format.
Scores will be tallied for each group of students competing at a time. and every student who competes in all 24 games will be entered into a prize drawing at the end of the day.
Teams will be divided by grade (grades 7 thru 12) each with their own class-chosen color so you can even dress the part before arriving. The Team/Grade that wins the most overall point from all of the games will also be honored.
At 6 pm , the games end and a dance party kicks in on the field mezzanine.
The evening ends at 11 pm when Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity for an overnight Lock-In event in the school gymnasium and swimming pool. More details to be announced soon.
PARENTS: As always for Walnut24, the kids are having fun but we need you to volunteer and help make this happen. Please consider donating a few hours of your time. You are guaranteed to have as much fun as the kids!

Walnut24 has ended for 2012 but...
... you can still make a donation. Click the "Make a Donation" button at left and help keep our advisers, band leaders and coaches (the ABCs.) These are people who give our students that little "extra" that makes being a Walnut student great.
Final numbers have not been tabulated but we do know it is down from last year and certainly far from our goal. Which means another source of income will be needed if we want to keep our ABCs. You can help with a small or large contribution right now.
Thank you
Another way to support the cause, buy photos from the event. All proceeds from the sale of phots, linked below, will be donated to Walnut24. Thanks to Scott Tengen for spending the 14 hours photographing and donating the prophets.

Countdown to Walnut24
Students and Parents: There are only 6 days until Walnut24. Lots going on in those six days. We're giving away Chipotle gift cards on our Facebook page but you have to "Like" it and respond to the challenges.
Pre-registration ends in 3 days and there are new groups being formed everyday. Have you registered and joined a group? You can do that HERE.
Parents we still need LOTS of people to help run the games. All we ask is that you help for an hour. All volunteers get in free and are welcome to stick around the rest of the day and watch the fun. Sign up for a shift HERE.
Students, remember this is a fundraiser that helps over 200 programs at Walnut Hills HS. Please ask your neighbors, relatives and even parents coworkers if they will sponsor you. $1 here. $3 there. It all adds up! If you need a donation form, you can download one HERE.

Do I join a Team or a Group?
Since Walnut24 is now going to be a series of games, you may wonder if you need to be part of a team or a group or what the difference is.
GROUPS
A group can be two people or as many as 200 people. It can be you and your best friend, a group of close friends, a club, a team or everyone who plays a certain sport. It can be anyone. If you and your friends want to hang together and participate in the different games, then you should form a group. Click HERE to do that right now.
TEAMS
For the purpose of keeping scores on all the games, we are combining groups and individual competitors into teams: MEGA Teams. There will be eight MegaTeams distinguished by eight colors. Walnut24 organizers will put everyone into teams so that they are all roughly the same size. When your group competes in any game, you will be trying to win and the winning groups get prizes. Everyone who competes also earns points for the MegaTeam that they are on -- more points awarded if you win but points will be awarded for all who compete. The Team with the highest point total at the end of the night will win prizes, too.
So what's the next step?
Take a look at the groups that have signed up already by clicking HERE.
Don't see a group that you want to be with? Start your own HERE
OK, now that your group is formed, you need to SIGN UP to get into the games. Then contact your friends and get them to sigh up and pick the right group on the registration form.
Still confused?
